Winter or Summer ? Here are all the advices for which will be the best period to do your trip.

Iceland in Summer, the Best Period

Indeed, the best period to enjoy Island is in Summer : temperatures are pleasant and the days are long. To June to August, you could discover the North and the uplands. Nonetheless, we prefer to warn you : it can snow in the middle of the summer ! So it is much better to cross some lands of the country that are desert and particularly rude with no accommodation and restaurant. But that’s the appeal of Iceland : isolation and nature in the raw state.

The North West  of Iceland is a wild land, inhabited by little fishing villages. Leave the principal Road to discover the fjords and the bays of the region. This is the colder part of Iceland that is why we advice you, if you are keen to this region, to go there during Summer.

Iceland in May to September

This is the part of the year where the days are still enjoyable and long. This is the best period to visit the South West including the capital. You can’t miss the Gold Circle, and the huge cities are are natural wonders. Adding to that, it is perfect to go in May or September if you want to avoid tourists with a still acceptable weather. Concerning the other regions, you have to be very careful : some circuits or sites are closed outwards the summer.

Iceland in Winter

Between October and April, the country is nearly constantly in the dark, and trust us, the weather isn’t merciful. But if you are brave, you could assist to the magnificent show of the northern Lights. The country is almost empty at this period of the year.
